Exelon Hit With Investor Suit Over ComEd Unit’s Bribery Scandal

Exelon Corp. officers and directors are to blame for the $200 million expense the company incurred to settle federal bribery charges against its subsidiary Commonwealth Edison Co., an investor alleges in a new derivative suit.

Shareholder Donna Nicosia sued Wednesday in the US District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, two days after closing arguments in a criminal case there against four people accused of participating in a scheme to bribe former Illinois House Speaker Michael Madigan (D) to advance ComEd’s legislative agenda. Another derivative suit with similar allegations is pending in the same court.
