Exelon Gets Approval for $173 Million Investor Deal Over Scandal

Exelon Corp. investors’ securities fraud lawsuit over an Illinois bribery scandal has come to an end with final court approval of a $173 million class settlement.

The deal to resolve claims involving Exelon’s Commonwealth Edison Co. utility is fair, reasonable, and adequate, Judge Virginia M. Kendall said in an order entered Sept. 8 in the docket of the US District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.

Kendall also approved attorneys’ fees of 26% of the settlement fund over an objection.
