Ex-Volvo Worker Sues Volvo For Wage Violations Due to PPE Rules

A former employee of Volvo Car USA LLC alleges the car company violated federal and state labor laws by failing to pay non-exempt hourly employees for time worked before and after their scheduled shifts.

Antonio Gardenhire, who worked as a non-exempt hourly employee in the paint shop at Volvo’s Ridgeville, S.C., facility from February 2024 to September 2024, claims Volvo failed to pay him and other similarly situated employees for off-the-clock work performed before and after their shifts, according to his complaint filed Monday in the US District Court for the District of New Jersey.
