Ex-University of Michigan Worker Sues Over Race, Gender Bias (1)

The former director of the University of Michigan’s academic multicultural initiatives office claims she was wrongly fired after being falsely accused of making antisemitic comments.

Rachel Dawson, a Black woman, alleges the university “deviated from its typical disciplinary procedures” and terminated her employment while ignoring her complaint about bias in the process, according to a lawsuit filed Monday in the US District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan.

The university didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment.

The suit comes as several other prominent universities have been hit with allegations of ignoring reports of antisemitism on campus.
