Syracuse University would compensate current and former students affected by a 2020 data breach under the terms of a proposed settlement filed Thursday in a New York federal court.
About 9,800 putative class members whose sensitive information was obtained in the incident would be eligible for compensation, according to a memorandum in support of an unopposed motion for preliminary class action settlement approval.
Syracuse and Trevor Miller, a former student who filed the class action complaint, earlier agreed to settle the suit.
