Ohio’s former top utilities regulator surrendered to authorities Monday after a federal grand jury indicted him in connection with a massive bribery scheme involving FirstEnergy Corp.
Samuel Randazzo, a Columbus attorney who headed the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio from April 2019 until his resignation in November 2020, is charged with 11 counts: one count of conspiracy to commit travel act bribery and honest services wire fraud, two counts of travel act bribery, two counts of honest services wire fraud, one count of wire fraud, and five counts of making illegal monetary transactions.
