Ex-Ohio House Speaker Faces New Charges in FirstEnergy Scandal

Former Ohio House Speaker Larry Householder, who is in prison for a federal racketeering conviction related to the FirstEnergy Corp. scandal, was indicted on state charges.

Householder, a Republican, faces 10 new counts filed Monday in Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court, including theft in office, money laundering, and tampering with records, among others. The office of Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost (R) alleges that Householder, 64, illegally used more than $750,000 of money from his campaign to pay for his criminal defense lawyers in the federal case for which he is serving 20 years.
