Ex-NYC Jail Union Leader’s Early Release Grant Undone on Appeal

The Second Circuit on Thursday reversed the compassionate release of a former New York City jail union president convicted of wire fraud seven years ago.

Norman Seabrook, the former president of the New York City Correction Officers Benevolent Association, received a longer sentence than his co-defendants, but their circumstances and guidelines calculations were entirely different.

“There is nothing extraordinary and compelling about different sentences being imposed on differently situated defendants,” the US Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit said in an unsigned order undoing his compassionate release.
