A group of former Northwestern University football players has agreed to settle with the school in a slew of lawsuits that allege degrading and abusive hazing on the Wildcat squad.
Settlement documentation is in the process of being finalized, according to court records and a spokesman for the school. Attorneys revealed in a videoconferenced court hearing Monday that “master settlement agreements” have been signed.
Details about the terms of the settlement were not immediately available, but a spokesman for Northwestern said the agreement “will fully resolve the student plaintiffs’ claims” against the school and former head coach Patrick Fitzgerald.
