A $50 million jury verdict for former Marvel Entertainment head Ike Perlmutter and his wife Laura is priming a potentially enormous punitive damages push if the Florida Supreme Court gives plaintiffs the green light.
The verdict came following a three-week trial in Palm Beach County where the former entertainment mogul sued neighbor Harold Peerenboom, founder of executive search firm Mandrake Management. The jury found that Peerenboom and his attorney staged a deposition to steal the Perlmutters’ DNA, which was used to defame Laura in a spat involving a local tennis coach.
