Ex-IMG Worldwide Worker Loses Bid to Cut $200,000 in Restitution

A former IMG Worldwide Inc. employee who pleaded guilty to selling ill-gotten tickets to a tennis tournament on Key Biscayne, Fla., lost her federal appeal seeking to avoid her outstanding restitution obligation.

District courts continue to have jurisdiction in criminal cases to enforce compliance with unsatisfied restitution obligations after a defendant completes her probationary sentence, the US Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit said Tuesday.

Mikel Mims pleaded guilty in 2014 to one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud. She was sentenced to three years of probation and ordered to pay approximately $255,000 in restitution.
