A former executive for Hearst Communications Inc. is suing the media conglomerate, claiming whistleblower retaliation because he was fired after reporting several instances of alleged fraudulent behavior within the company.
Throughout his tenure at Hearst, Michael Smith discovered and reported numerous instances of fraud to his supervisors, including targeted online advertisements being incorrectly delivered and websites showing fake audience traffic numbers, according to his complaint filed Thursday in the US District Court for the Southern District of New York.
