Ex-FirstEnergy CEO Gets Some Ohio Corruption Charges Tossed (1)

An Ohio judge dismissed some criminal charges brought against two former FirstEnergy Corp. executives, including ex-CEO Charles Jones, as part of a wide-ranging corruption probe involving the utility.

Two charges of aggravated theft of $1.5 million or more against Jones and fellow ex-executive Michael Dowling must be dismissed because they listed the Akron-based FirstEnergy as a victim even though the utility itself admitted to participating and benefiting, Summit County Common Pleas Judge Susan Baker Ross wrote Wednesday in a pair of orders.
