Ex-First Citizens Bank VP Alleges Retaliation In New Lawsuit

A former vice president with First Citizens Bank says the company illegally fired him after reporting alleged sexual harassment by a high-ranking bank executive and a fraud scheme, according to a new lawsuit Wednesday.

Barry Britten Buchanan says First Citizens Bank & Trust Co. violated Article VII and Virginia law when it fired him in 2023 for reporting misconduct by a company executive and the bank itself, according to his complaint. Buchanan asks the US District Court for the Western District of Virginia to order the bank to reinstate him as senior vice president, pay him compensatory and punitive damages, ...
