Ex-Barclays Exec’s Whistleblower Claims Thrown Out Again

Former Barclays Capital Inc. executive Brian La Belle’s request to revive his whistleblower suit against the company was rejected Friday by the US Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.

The three-judge panel, affirming a district court ruling, found that La Belle isn’t a protected whistleblower because he complained about violations of an internal policy that was implemented by Barclays to prevent fraud, not a policy required by the federal government.

“We see no reason to disturb the district court’s conclusion that La Belle failed to establish a whistleblower retaliation claim on this basis,” the judges said in their opinion ...
