AT&T Sales Director Owed $2.3 Million for Age-Driven Layoff (2)

AT&T Mobility Services LLC must pay $2.3 million to the former director of sales operations of its southeast Pennsylvania territory, who was unlawfully fired at age 49 in a workforce reduction, a federal judge in Philadelphia ruled.

Alison Ray is owed $496,818 in back pay and nearly $1.3 million in front pay for the company’s violation of the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, Magistrate Judge Timothy R. Rice said Thursday. Because AT&T’s violation of the ADEA was willful the back pay award is doubled as liquidated damages, Rice said.
