Estée Lauder Settles in Virtual Try-On Patent Infringement Suit

Zugara Inc. agreed to drop claims against Estée Lauder Cos. Inc. that the makeup company’s “Try Before You Buy” module infringed its patented virtual try-on technology.

Judge Rodney Gilstrap dismissed the case with prejudice Wednesday, after the parties notified the US District Court for the Eastern District of Texas in May that they reached a settlement. Zugara alleged Estée Lauder’s virtual try-on module for makeup and its augmented reality ads infringed Zugara’s Patent No. 10,482,517, which relates to technology simulating wearable items on users.
