Two Southern California luxury health food chains sold kale chips without warning customers that they contained heavy metals like lead and cadmium, a complaint said.
Nowhere Partners LLC, which does business as Erewhon, sold spicy “California Snax” kale chips without telling customers the food contained cadmium, a toxin known to slow development and cause male reproductive harm, the lawsuit filed Wednesday in California Superior Court, Los Angeles County said.
And Mother’s Market & Kitchen Inc. sold nacho and pizza flavored California Snax kale chips that contained both lead and cadmium without proper warnings, the complaint said.
