Boston Public Schools Sued Over Admissions Discrimination (1)

A group of elite Boston public schools were sued in federal court Thursday for allegedly replacing their merit-based admissions process with criteria designed to limit white and Asian American students.

The complaint brought by the Boston Parent Coalition for Academic Excellence said the Boston School Committee implemented an admissions tier system for the elite Exam Schools that acts as a proxy for race.

The system violates the Constitution’s equal protection clause, according to the suit filed in the US District Court for the District of Massachusetts.
