EEOC Sues Marriott Units Over Religious Bias Against Executive

The US Equal Employment Opportunity Commission sued two Marriott entities for discrimination against a Seventh Day Adventist sales executive whose religious belief restricts her from working on Saturdays.

The EEOC alleges that Marriott Vacations Worldwide Corp. and Marriott Ownership Resorts failed to accommodate Fadra James-Miles’s sincerely held religious belief of not working on Saturdays, retaliated against her for requesting the accommodation, and forced her to resign in violation of Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964.

The lawsuit was filed Monday in the US District Court for the Middle District of Florida.
