The US Equal Employment Opportunity Commission sued the District of Columbia Water and Sewer Authority for age bias, alleging the agency targeted and terminated older, high-performing employees in favor of younger, less qualified candidates.
DC Water fired Courtney Titus and other experienced older workers in September 2023, replacing them with substantially younger employees, the EEOC said in a press release Tuesday. The terminated workers had never received performance warnings and DC Water ignored its own progressive discipline policy by terminating them without notice or opportunity to correct alleged issues.
