EEOC Beats Dismissal Bid in Suit Over Deaf Nurse’s Job Offer

The EEOC survived a healthcare company’s bid to dismiss the agency’s disability bias suit brought on behalf of a deaf nurse, a federal judge said.

In the same ruling, Judge James K. Bredar, of the US District Court for the District of Maryland, warned the agency over apparently “very selectively” quoting certain documents in its complaint—even alluding to the possibility that EEOC lawyers may face ethics sanctions over the issue.

A US Equal Employment Opportunity Commission spokesperson said the agency doesn’t comment on pending litigation.
