Education Department Grilled Over DOGE Access to Student Records

A federal district court judge pressed government lawyers Friday to explain how college students aren’t being injured by the disclosure of their data to Elon Musk‘s government efficiency team.

Judge Randolph D. Moss, during arguments focused on whether the students have legal standing to bring the case, probed the Department of Education over the University of California Student Association’s emergency motion for a temporary restraining order. Moss sought clarity on how many, if any, “DOGE-affiliated officials” were authorized to have access to the personal and financial information at issue.
