Ed Blum Backed Group Sues UCLA Over Race Balancing in Admissions

A group backed by anti-DEI activist Edward Blum alleged Thursday in a proposed class action that University of California, Los Angeles uses an illegal scheme to racially balance its medical school.

Students for Fair Admissions—which secured a landmark US Supreme Court victory on affirmative action in 2023—alleged the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA’s admission process is unconstitutional and violates federal and state civil rights laws. Blum started the organization with the intention of ending affirmative action in school admissions in 2014.
