Electric bike maker and retailer Pedego was hit with a lawsuit alleging it should have known about a defect that caused certain models to unexpectedly accelerate.
Less than two weeks after she purchased her bike in August 2020, Renee Govig said the bike suddenly accelerated and sent her sliding across pavement, according to the complaint filed Thursday in the US District Court for the Southern District of Florida. She said the injuries required surgery and extensive follow-up care.
Pedego didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment.
