DuPont Cleared for $7 Million Class Deal Over Pension Statements

E.I. du Pont de Nemours & Co.'s $7 million class settlement with workers who say they forfeited pension benefits based on misleading communications from the company received preliminary approval from a federal court in Delaware.

The deal, which is expected to benefit about 300 people, resolves allegations that DuPont misled workers into delaying their retirement dates well beyond the point at which they would have been eligible for full pension benefits.

It also requires the company to send additional notices informing certain former workers of their ability to receive full benefits before reaching age 65, according to the settlement ...
