A California non-profit sued companies including Mitsuwa Corp. alleging they distributed dried fish and seaweed snacks containing lead and cadmium to California consumers without adequate warning, in violation of the state’s Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act.
According to the complaint, the Consumer Advocacy Group Inc. served several notices for alleged violations of Proposition 65 in 2019 and 2020, before filing suit Tuesday in Los Angeles Superior Court.
Prop. 65 requires companies to notify California consumers if their products contain chemicals on a list known to the state to cause cancer.
