Drexel University Denied Judgment, New Trial in Pay Bias Lawsuit

Drexel University failed to convince a federal judge it was entitled to a new trial on a female professor’s Equal Pay Act claim, for which a jury awarded her $354,993 in damages.

The university was wrong that liability had been unfairly imposed against it prior to trial as a sanction for its failure to disclose certain data on how it paid professors in its English and Philosophy department, the US District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania said.
