Dotdash Meredith Beats Privacy Lawsuit Over Meta Info Sharing

Dotdash Meredith Inc., which runs People and Entertainment Weekly publications, defeated a proposed class action filed in a Massachusetts court alleging it shared users’ video-viewing information with Meta Platforms Inc. in violation of the Video Privacy Protection Act.

Lead plaintiffs Mari Cartagenova, Kevin Mansfield, and Abby Musick failed to establish that the New York-based company had sufficient contacts with Massachusetts to establish the court’s jurisdiction, Judge Nathaniel M. Gorton of the US District Court for the District of Massachusetts said Feb. 6.

Gorton granted Dotdash’s motion to dismiss the case.
