DOJ May Be Acting ‘Inconsistently’ on FOIA Matters, Judge Says

The US Department of Justice must continue to defend against a suit alleging it has a policy of refusing to confirm or deny the existence of records related to investigations of public officials.

Government watchdog group Citizens for Responsibility & Ethics in Washington has identified ways in which DOJ units “appear to be acting inconsistently” with Freedom of Information Act requirements, Judge Judge Loren L. AliKhan of the US District Court for the District of Columbia said in a Monday opinion.
