Doctors Say Idaho Can’t Duck Suit Over Abortion Travel Help Ban

Idaho’s top lawyer must not be allowed to ditch a lawsuit over his interpretation that the state’s near-total abortion ban permits criminal prosecutions against doctors who advise patients on how to get abortions in other states, providers told an appeals court.

Attorney General Raúl Labrador (R) isn’t immune from the suit alleging that doctors’ free speech and due process rights are endangered by his view that offering travel advice is “assisting” abortions, Planned Parenthood Great Northwest, Hawaii, Alaska, Indiana, and Kentucky and two doctors said in a brief filed Tuesday in the US Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. ...
