OMB Must Bring Government Spending Site Back Up, Judge Says (1)

The Office of Management and Budget must restore a public website disclosing information about federal spending, a federal judge ruled Monday.

“There is nothing unconstitutional about Congress requiring the Executive Branch to inform the public of how it is apportioning the public’s money,” Judge Emmet G. Sullivan of the US District Court for the District of Columbia said in an opinion mostly granting summary judgment to two nonprofits that challenged the OMB’s removal of the site in March.

“Defendants are therefore required to stop violating the law!” Sullivan added.
