A coalition of arts groups is likely to win a lawsuit against the National Endowment for the Arts if it enforces the Trump administration’s executive order attacking “gender ideology,” but a federal judge declined to issue a court injunction Thursday, calling it unnecessary.
Judge William E. Smith of the US District Court for the District of Rhode Island said in a order that the NEA has already rescinded its implementation of the executive order that prohibits federal funding for projects promoting gender ideology pending administrative review so a court injunction isn’t warranted at this point.
