A cisgender female advocacy group on Thursday urged the Eighth Circuit to block Minnesota’s decade-old policy allowing high school students to play on sports teams that align with their gender identity.
Female Athletes United argued at the US Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit that several of its members were forced into unfair competition and lost last year against a softball team with a transgender female athlete, who was allowed to play on the team due to the policy. The group asserted the player, as a biological male, has competitive advantages over biological females.
