Disney, ‘Predator’ Screenwriters Drop Lawsuits Over Copyright

Walt Disney Co. unit Twentieth Century Fox and the writers of the screenplay that became the film “Predator” agreed to drop dueling federal lawsuits over the film’s copyrights, according to filings in California.

Jim and John Thomas, who wrote the original screenplay that was ultimately turned into the script for “Predator,” sought a court order from the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California, declaring that they validly terminated Twentieth Century Fox’s rights with a 2016 notice purporting to “recapture” the copyright.
