DISH Sues BBC’s, ITV’s BritBox Over Adaptive Streaming Patents

BritBox LLC allegedly infringed DISH Technologies LLC‘s patented method for content streaming.

DISH and its subsidiary, Sling TV LLC, collectively sued BritBox in the US District Court for the Southern District of New York, alleging the company willfully infringed DISH’s exclusive right to commercialize its patents for multi-bitrate streaming technology.

Adaptive bitrate streaming technology enables the playback client to select a lower video quality and maintain playback continuity for end users, rather than buffering when the bandwidth of a user’s network is constrained.
