Discover Taps Welsh as Interim Legal Officer, General Counsel

Kelly Welsh joined Discover as its interim chief legal officer, general counsel, and head of corporate and public affairs, the company announced Tuesday.

He will be a member of Discover’s executive management committee, the company said.

Welsh previously served as general counsel of the Commerce Department and as executive vice president, general counsel, and a member of the management committees of Northern Trust and Ameritech. He was also corporation counsel of the City of Chicago and a partner at Mayer Brown.
