Disbarred NJ Lawyers Can Reapply, for First Time in Decades (1)

New Jersey will allow disbarred attorneys to reapply for legal membership after five years, joining the grand majority of states who give lawyers a second chance after facing the career death sentence.

In a Tuesday order, New Jersey Supreme Court Chief Justice Stuart Rabner laid out the lengthy steps disbarred counsel must undergo in order to come back from practice exile, including retaking the state bar exam, an ethics test, getting up to date on all of their missed continuing legal education, and paying a $1,500 fee.
