Digital Trust LLC negligently failed to protect the personal information of consumers and employees that was exposed in a March 2024 data breach, a proposed federal class action said.
Plaintiff Kevin Meagher alleged that Digital Trust breached its duties under common law, contract law, and the Federal Trade Commission Act to implement reasonable and adequate data-security measures. He also alleged the company failed to provide timely notice of the breach.
Information exposed in the incident included names and Social Security numbers, according to a complaint filed Wednesday in the US District Court for the District of Nevada.
