US Department of Homeland Security agents are allegedly targeting peaceful protesters and members of the press covering demonstrations at an immigration facility in Portland with tear gas and other physical force without warning.
Federal agents are using excessive force against protesters and press in retaliation for their speech against the administration’s policies and reporting on their actions, which has chilled them from exercising their First Amendment rights, a group of protesters and journalists alleged in a complaint filed Nov. 21 in the US District Court for the District of Oregon.
