DHS Sued Over Conditions at Chicago-Area ICE Facility (3)

Conditions at an Immigration and Customs Enforcement facility in suburban Chicago have become unsanitary, crowded, and inhumane, a proposed class complaint states.

People being held at the facility in Broadview, Ill., lack access to adequate medical care, are denied basic hygiene items, and are “routinely degraded, mistreated, and humiliated” by federal officers patrolling the facility, two detainees alleged in a complaint filed Thursday in the US District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.

The plaintiffs want a judge to impose a temporary restraining order granting each detainee access to adequate food, bedding, toilets, hygiene products, and contact with lawyers. ...
