DHS Illegally Denying Immigration Detainees Bond, Suit Says

The Trump administration is allegedly “systematically misclassifying” people arrested in the US who entered the country illegally, even if it was years ago, to deny them the opportunity for release on bond during immigration proceedings.

Immigration authorities are designating “potentially millions of people in immigration proceedings nationwide” as subject to a provision of the Immigration and Nationality Act that denies them the possibility of release or due process protections, going against decades of settled law and practice, according to an amended class action complaint filed Monday in the US District Court for the District of Massachusetts.
