The Detroit Tigers baseball club failed to shake off claims that it fired its 58-year-old visiting team clubhouse manager because of his age.
Plaintiff John Nelson presented sufficient circumstantial evidence of age discrimination to survive summary judgment on his claims under the Age Discrimination in Employment Act and the Elloitt-Larsen Civil Rights Act, Judge David M. Lawson of the US District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan said.
“There is plenty of evidence in this record from which a jury could conclude that Nelson’s age was the reason he was fired,” Lawson said.
