Detroit Tigers Hit With Worker’s Lawsuit Over Unpaid Overtime

Detroit Tigers Inc. allegedly failed to pay overtime wages to nonexempt workers in violation of federal law, according to a lawsuit filed in federal court in Michigan.

Derron Jones, a former non-exempt shipping/receiving employee for the Tigers, alleges the team failed to properly calculate his and other hourly workers’ regular rate of pay by not factoring in shift premiums and non-discretionary bonuses. This resulted in the workers being underpaid for overtime hours worked, says the lawsuit filed Tuesday in the US District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan.
