James Uthmeier, who currently serves as Gov. Ron DeSantis’s (R) chief of staff, will be named the state’s next attorney general after sitting Attorney General Ashley Moody (R) joins the US Senate. Moody is expected to be sworn in next week, pending Sen. Marco Rubio’s (R) confirmation as Secretary of State.
During a Thursday press conference, DeSantis likened Uthmeier to Moody, saying that he’d work hard to support his administration’s immigration policies. Uthmeier has worked for DeSantis since 2019.
