Democrats Lose Court Bid to Block Trump’s Mail-In Ballot Limits

Congressional Democratic leaders lost a bid for a court order to block the Trump administration from prohibiting mail-in voting for anyone not on a pre-approved list of citizens compiled by the Department of Homeland Security.

A federal judge in Washington ruled late Wednesday that the legal challenge to President Donald Trump’s April executive order is premature because the restrictions haven’t been put in place yet.

“Whether the government’s actions under the order are lawful or unlawful will depend on how” executive branch agencies decide to implement the order, “not on the order itself,” wrote US District Judge Carl Nichols ...
