Several Democratic candidates for federal office are suing to block a Trump administration notice that expands eligibility for a TV station cap on costs for political ads.
The candidates—Georgia Sen. Jon Ossoff, former Ohio Sen. Sherrod Brown, former North Carolina Gov. Roy Cooper, and Rep. Kristen McDonald Rivet (Mich.)—filed an original petition in the US Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit Monday. They argue only candidates’ political committees, and not groups coordinating spending on candidates’ behalf, should be given the cheapest ad rates.
