A Democratic Ohio Supreme Court justice sued state officials in federal court Tuesday over a law that mandates the political affiliations of justice and appellate judge candidates appear on ballots in general elections.
Justice Jennifer Brunner said that her First, Fifth and 14th Amendment rights are violated by the law, which was in effect when she mounted an unsuccessful campaign for chief justice last year against Republican Sharon L. Kennedy.
