Delaware Chancery Court Denies Mid-Case Appeal for Goldendoodle

A precedent-setting custody case over a goldendoodle in Delaware’s premier business court doesn’t merit mid-case review from a higher authority, a judge said Monday.

The Delaware Chancery Court ordered an estranged couple to hold a private auction for the dog named Tucker. Joseph Nelson, who’s cared for the canine since the couple’s 2022 breakup, sought an appeal before an auction is held. Vice Chancellor Bonnie W. David denied Nelson’s request, saying “the costs of interlocutory appeal outweigh the benefits.”
