A $253,700 class settlement with employees of defunct R.L. Zeigler Co., who alleged the company failed to provide annual pension benefit statements, received preliminary approval from a federal judge.
Zeigler employees alleged that the Alabama meat producer failed to disburse vested retirement funds, according to court documents from the US District Court for the Northern District of Alabama. But after the start of litigation, Zeigler “began a rolling disbursal of pension funds and delivery of outstanding pension benefit statements,” a motion for preliminary approval said.
